Although small, our actions are our way of thanking the communities who have supported us over the last 99 years 💐
For Mandela Day 2022 we had 2 goals: care for the elders and nurture the next generation.
Thank you to the Silver Treads Service Centre, Red Cross Hospital (Children’s Hospital Trust), and Khayelitsha Day Hospital for spending the day with us.
Based in Mitchells Plain, Silver Threads Service Centre was recommended to us by Age-in-Action Western Cape. This is home to over 50 elderly residents who do not receive subsidies and rely on their pension for support.
In light of this, we wanted to provide them with a memorable afternoon. From a wholesome meal to entertainment, laughter and getting to know the members which make up this forgotten yet powerful community. This experience will certainly stay with us.
For the young kids at Red Cross Hospital (The Children’s Hospital Trust) and Khayelitsha Day Hospital we wanted to make their hospital experience a little easier and bring a smile to their faces.
Our teams at both locations were out in full force with gift bags filled with their favourite snacks.
The Red Cross Team chose the Cancer Ward to receive the snack boxes and in Khayelitsha it was handed out to the children as they passed.
Once again thank you to all 3 places for hosting us. It was a day that our staff will always hold close to their hearts.
