The annual Lion of Africa Half Marathon took place on the 6th of February 2016 at the Cape Academy for Mathematics, Science and Technology in Constantia Cape Town. The marathon incorporated the Phillip Rabinowitz Memorial Walk which was held in honour of the legendary Spartan Harriers club member who passed away at the age of 104 in February 2008.
There was not only a 21.1km marathon which was featured but also a 10km run and a 10km walk.
The winner of the male half marathon race was Vuyolethu Mbukushe in a time of 1 hour 8 minutes and 34 seconds while the female winner was Tish Jones a guest runner from the UK in a time of 1 hour 22 minutes and 43 seconds.
